Misc

This page contains examples of furniture, boxes (carved/otherwise) and anything else I've created that I think is noteworthy.

This is a spalted maple bowl.  Spalted wood looks nice, but it takes really sharp tools and a lot of patience to work with this wood.  The top photo shows a inlay where the wood split.

The tray is done in Mulberry which does carve nicely.  The bottom and handles are fully hand carved, and the top is routed.  The sides were left live edge, not because "live edge" is a current fad, but rather I wanted this piece to look as natural as possible.

This is a bandsaw box done that is hand carved freeform when finished.  Notice in the bottom picture that the wood looks blemished.  This is a result of carving from a different direction in order to avoid tear out on the end-grain.  It's one way you can tell it's not machined.

Teh mulberry tray on the dining table I made.
